Assistant Curator of Plants and Education (Seasonal/Temporary)
Job Summary
Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District seeks individuals to assist at Conservation Garden Park with plant curation and conservation education. Great opportunity for those interested in horticulture, landscaping, and environmental science.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Senior Horticulturist in maintaining the plant collection and database (descriptions, inventory, tags, photos)
- Providing educational program development for youth and adults: tours, curriculum, etc.
- S supporting the Digital Content Coordinator in creating educational content for social media
- Assisting the Outreach Coordinator with educational programing for garden events
- Internship: Job can be used as an internship based upon college/university approval.
Job Requirements
- Two years of college-level classes in horticulture, environmental science, education, or an equivalent degree preferred.
- Must have a general knowledge of horticulture, botanical nomenclature, and plant curation.
- Must be comfortable interacting with the public; organized, detail-oriented, and be willing to learn.
- Understanding the basics of photography and videography is preferred.
Wage
$17-20 per hour
Hours
Part-time positions (up to 32 hours/week) from August through October. Employment start and end dates are flexible based on the candidate's availability.
Qualifications
Must be able to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, Saturdays, and some holidays.
Benefits
