About the role
The Assistant Cross Country Coach at Madison County Public Schools assists the head coach and provides direction to student athletes to achieve a high level of skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Instructs and teaches skill sets and techniques necessary for athlete's achievement.
- Helps the coach develop team strategies for upcoming track meets.
- Aids in developing appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
- Travels with student athletes on school assigned bus to all away meets.
- Maintains a safe environment for student athletes.
- Affirms high academic standards for all student athletes.
- Works cooperatively with the head coach to operate a balanced athletic program.
- Ensures all student athletes practicing or playing have undergone and passed all medical examinations before the regular practice season begins.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
- Prior experience coaching student athletes is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of VHSL rules and regulations.
- Supervision skills for all players.
- Personal skills reflecting positive relations with high school student-athletes, parents, and the community.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a broad population of students and colleagues.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
- Certified in Concussion training.
- Follows all district policies, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
