Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach (COACH AST 3)

Under the general direction of the Director, assist in all aspects of an NCAA Division I men’s and women’s cross country and track & field program.

Responsibilities

• Student-athlete recruitment
• Scheduling and team travel
• Scouting opponents
• Practice planning
• Assisting with the administration of summer camps and clinics
• Administration of the cross country and track & field program in full compliance with NCAA and university rules and regulations
• 70% coaching duties
• 30% recruiting duties

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Three (3) years of successful NCAA Division I collegiate coaching experience in the sport of cross country and track & field
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
• Knowledge of the rules and strategies for cross country and track & field, including teaching techniques, coaching strategies, and safety measures
• Skills to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with diverse groups including student-athletes, colleagues, staff, parents, fans, media, and officials

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
• Successful head cross country experience at the NCAA Division I level (preferred)
• Ability to learn complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of UC Davis student-athletes, including UC Davis, Mountain West Conference, and NCAA policies

Pay

$45,000/annually - $70,000/annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Nights and weekends as needed.

Complete and pass the National Collegiate Athletic Association Recruiting Examination per NCAA bylaw 12.1, 2.2.1 and be CPR & First Aid certified annually. Employment is contingent upon clearing a criminal background check, which may include drug screening, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
