Assistant Critical Operations Manager

About the role

The Assistant Critical Operations Manager (ACOM) supports a local data center campus. Reporting to the Critical Operations Manager, the ACOM assists in maintaining and implementing programs related to Safety, Team, Availability, Communication, and Knowledge. They also manage budgets, oversee project execution, and ensure site-level efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Datacenter subject matter expert for electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and other data center systems
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions within the facility
• Implement site-level efficiency projects and maintain overall site design PUE
• Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance program is executed
• Train and mentor junior staff
• Manage vendor relationships and service contracts
• Aid in managing vendor procurement and billing process
• Create highly detailed technical procedures for maintenance events, emergency situations, standard site evolutions, etc.
• Manage site audits both internal and external
• Adhere to compliance standards
• Manage systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting outages
• Manage the data floor and back of house mechanical loading capacity
• Navigate and utilize CMS, EPMS, and BMS systems
• Provide day-to-day exceptional customer service and support
• On-call availability may be required to respond to emergency situations at the data center

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 - 3 years' experience in a data center or other related mission critical operations role
• Knowledge of data center (hyper scale, enterprise, and colocation), and telecommunications industries
• Experience working with various Microsoft office applications and other database housing software
• 1 - 2 years' experience in administering and managing facility preventative maintenance programs
• 1 - 2 years' experience in vendor and project management
• Working understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment
• Working knowledge of NFPA70e, NFPA72, NFPA25, and compliance issues as well as building codes in regard to fire life safety
• Working knowledge and experience in data center trending and analysis, with the ability to rapidly learn and use PC based site monitoring systems

Pay

$60.00 - $62.50 per hour
