Assistant Counsel - Hybrid

About the Role

Provides legal services within a healthcare organization, supporting the System Office and assigned Ministries. Handles routine to moderately complex legal matters, often requiring independent judgment and direct client contact. Works under supervision of senior attorneys, developing expertise in healthcare law, including corporate and tax-exempt organization regulations.

Responsibilities

• Researches and prepares legal memoranda and opinions on various subjects.
• Advises internal stakeholders on legal issues, representing organizational interests in external contacts.
• Resolves legal matters involving significant financial or operational risks.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and organizational standards.
• Maintains professional knowledge and provides updates on legal developments affecting healthcare organizations.

Requirements

• Licensed attorney with a J.D. from an accredited law school.
• At least four years of legal practice, with healthcare law experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to relate effectively at all organizational levels.
• Ability to work independently on routine tasks and seek guidance on complex issues.
• Excellent conceptual, analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and a collaborative approach.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Effective communication skills for in-person and phone interactions.
• Must operate within organizational policies, maintain professionalism, and adapt to changing priorities.
