• Assist with the preparation and cooking of a variety of foods, including soups, salads, meats, vegetables, desserts, beverages, and other menu items.
• Clean, wash, and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, silverware, floors, walls, and work areas.
• Operate kitchen machinery and equipment.
• Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries.
• Support meal service and food packaging.
• Maintain production records.
• Provide meal preparation support in the absence of the Cook.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

• Knowledge of simple food preparation, and liquid and dry weights and measures.
• Interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and learn routines.
• Mathematical ability.

Any experience and training which would provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above.

Physical Requirements

Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility, visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties. Incumbents must be free from communicable diseases. A physical examination may be required.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights; may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment and utensils used in the kitchen and from patients/clients.

Position Highlights

• Location: Howell Cheney Technical High School in Manchester, CT
• Full-time | 1st Shift | 37.5 hours per week
• Monday – Friday | 6:00 am – 2:00 pm
• 10-month position operating during the school year, returning after summer break
