Location: Hylton View, Old Mill Road, Sunderland SR5 5TP
Salary: £12.80/hour • Hours: 24 hours/week covering 3 shifts • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role

About the role
As an Assistant Cook you will support the First Cook in the preparation and delivery of meals. This role involves assisting with cooking, ensuring food safety standards are met, and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. The Assistant Cook may also take responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the First Cook.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking meals according to menu plans and dietary needs
- Ensure meals are served on time and presented to a high standard
- Work closely with the 1st Cook to support daily kitchen operations
- Help manage food prep during busy periods
- Assist stock rotation and checking deliveries
- Adhere to all food hygiene, health, and food safety standards
Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent preferred
- Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience in Cooking in a similar setting
- Reliable, flexible, and a strong team player
