Minimum Requirements
- Successful completion of a recognized certificate program in Food Service Administration focused on Food Production (not Management), or
- One (1) year paid full‑time (or part‑time equivalent) experience in large‑scale food preparation for a cafeteria, restaurant, hotel, or institution (excluding short‑order or fast‑food settings).
Applicants qualifying under the certificate option must submit a copy of the certificate or diploma.
Special Requirements
- Pre‑employment drug test (as required by Monroe County Government for the position).
- State Education Department clearance for employment in positions involving direct contact with students, per Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000 and Commissioner of Education regulations.

- Physical condition commensurate with the lifting demands of the position.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prepare and serve food using accepted sanitary practices.
- Ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and co‑workers.
- Ability to operate a point‑of‑sale terminal and make proper change.
- Ability to operate kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Willingness to perform a variety of kitchen duties.
- Daily attendance is required.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
- Assist with extensive food preparation.
- Assist in preparing ingredients for salads, sandwiches, and cold plates.
- Serve food from steam tables or food lines.
- Serve as major cashier for breakfast and lunch on the food service line.
- Operate kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Wash and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and equipment.
- Assist with cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen.
- Perform various kitchen duties as needed.
