About the role

The Assistant Controller - Financial Audit and Reporting is a critical position within the University of California, Riverside (UCR). This role is managed by the Associate Vice Chancellor-Business & Financial Services and Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the accuracy of financial statements and ensures compliance with GAAP/GASB/regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a point of contact for financial reporting and controls, supporting executive leadership through the preparation of financial reports.
  • Provides budget-to-actual variance analysis and supports the CFO in strategic financial planning and forecasting.
  • Develops financial models, strategies, and recommendations to inform executive-level decision-making and support campus-wide integrated strategic planning processes.
  • Establishes and maintains financial reporting templates for the campus.
  • Develops and implements financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Expert level accounting-related knowledge and skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the accounting function.
  • Expert knowledge of analytical procedures used in accounting projects of complex scope.
  • Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and report on data that is complex in nature.
  • Expert ability to effectively communicate complex information to management verbally and in writing.
  • Highly experienced using financial transactions and financial systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and unique and complex regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Advanced understanding of the interrelationship between procedures and desired results.
  • Working Knowledge of UC policies and procedures.
  • Oracle Cloud Financials experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position.
  • Experience: 8 - 13 years of related experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field.

Benefits

The Assistant Controller - Financial Audit and Reporting position offers competitive compensation within the range of $93,200 - $174,200 annually, with an expected pay scale of up to $140,000 annually. Salary is based on a variety of considerations including education, licensure and certifications, experience, and business and organizational needs.
