We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to support accounting operations for a multi-entity organization based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This long-term contract position is fully onsite.
About the role
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, a hands-on approach, and the ability to lead priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations across four operating entities, ensuring records are complete, timely, and aligned with reporting standards.
- Produce and evaluate monthly financial reports, identifying trends, variances, and areas that require correction or clarification.
- Lead the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reviewing account activity, and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Supervise and develop a small accounting team, providing direction, coaching, and support for ongoing performance improvement.
- Strengthen internal controls and work with cross-functional partners to refine accounting procedures and improve workflow efficiency.
- Coordinate audit support by assembling documentation, preparing requested schedules, and responding to external auditor inquiries.
- Work closely with tax and compliance partners to support sales tax and other regulatory filing requirements.
- Assist with treasury-related activities, including monitoring cash activity, supporting banking needs, and helping manage daily liquidity operations.
- Contribute to special accounting initiatives and process improvement projects as business needs evolve.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
- Strong background in month-end close, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting financial statement audits and maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
- Knowledge of accounting compliance requirements and internal control practices; familiarity with DCAA is a plus.
- CPA designation is preferred but not required.
- Industry experience in service, hospitality, concessions, or rental car environments is advantageous.
- Proven analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
