An expanding industrial design-build and construction firm is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller for a full-time, on-site position in the Duncan, SC area. Reporting directly to financial leadership, this role is key to maintaining daily accounting operations, driving monthly close cycles, and delivering accurate project-level financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Direct general ledger management, record complex journal entries, perform routine account reconciliations, and drive the month-end and year-end financial close processes.
  • Work alongside project management teams to monitor job costs, track project budgets, analyze variances, and ensure accurate revenue recognition.
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, management dashboards, and supporting schedules. Provide actionable financial insights to senior executives.
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring, short-term liquidity forecasting, and the oversight of billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable workflows.
  • Help manage internal controls, assist external auditors during annual reviews, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and GAAP.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows, enhance ERP/accounting software usage, and automate routine reporting functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Assistant Controller.
  • Proven background in project-based accounting (job costing, WIP management, and budget tracking) within construction, engineering, or industrial services.
  • Strong command of core accounting standards (GAAP). Hands-on experience with construction ERP systems and advanced capability in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data modeling).
  • High level of detail orientation with the ability to translate complex numerical data into clear, actionable reporting for non-finance operational partners.
  • Demonstrated track record of handling sensitive financial information with strict confidentiality and discretion.

Pay
