Assistant Controller
About the role
The Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. This role combines operational execution with process improvement, partnering closely with leadership to build scalable accounting processes that support a fast-growing business.
What You'll Do
- Lead daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, and general ledger activities
- Drive accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members while establishing accountability and performance standards
- Review and approve accounting transactions, ensuring strong internal controls and compliance with GAAP
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and scalability
- Partner with leadership on financial reporting, audits, compliance requirements, and operational initiatives that support company growth
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or people management responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and operational accounting functions, including AP, AR, and General Accounting
- Experience working within ERP systems and advanced proficiency with Excel
- A hands-on, detail-oriented approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation
- NetSuite experience
- Demonstrated success improving close processes, accounting accuracy, automation, or operational efficiencies

Schedule & location
This is a remote role, with a preference for candidates local to Orange County to attend in-person Operations Strategy Meetings.
Pay
$150,000 - $200,000 per year
