Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls.
- Cookordination and support external audits and tax-related activities.
- Aid with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Maintain general ledger activity and account reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased efficiency.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support business objectives.
- Aid with ERP system enhancements and financial reporting tools.
- Bring a comfort with technology to the role, recommending tools and improvements to the Chief Accounting Officer and helping implement them to streamline workflows.
- Aid in creating and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) to document key accounting processes and promote consistency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA, CMA, or other higher education degree/designation is preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Live in and around the Greater Austin area.
