Assistant Controller
About the role
Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking an Assistant Controller to manage the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial processes while assisting in guiding the accounting team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
- Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliation
- Assist with audits (internal and external) and coordinate required documentation
- Monitor cash flow
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
- Collaborate with other departments on financial matters and reporting
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP systems (e.g., Glovia) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, all employees are required to wear personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA-compliant safety boots/shoes.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties, the employee may remain stationary for long periods while operating a computer and other office machinery. The position requires occasional movement inside the office to access filing cabinets and operate office machinery. The employee may occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. On occasion, the employee may visit the shop, which is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles typical of metal fabrication shops.
Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
