Assistant Construction Superintendent

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update project schedules and budgets under the supervision of Superintendents.
  • Coordinate with subcontractor’s offices to develop recovery plans as needed.
  • Meet regularly with staff and subcontractors to discuss progress, obstacles, challenges, and remove barriers.
  • Affirm daily operational objectives, timelines, and goals.
  • Coordinate inspections and participate in the examination and inspection of work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure specifications are met.
  • Read construction documents to determine construction requirements or plan procedures.
  • Record and maintain information and produce reports such as personnel, production, project logs, status, and other operational data.
  • Make decisions regarding start-up/shutdown issues on assigned projects and instruct crew members accordingly.
  • Conduct periodic job site safety inspections and audits.
  • Ensure all assigned projects are built to the highest quality, according to plans and specifications provided.
  • Represent Hoar in job site progress meetings or any other meetings as requested or needed.
  • Act as jobsite superintendent in the absence of the normal jobsite superintendent.
  • Create and maintain good working relationships with customers and suppliers to keep smooth flow of operations.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with all parties involved regarding deliveries, and general job progress, etc.
  • Assist in coordination and management of all workforce needed to complete assigned projects.
  • Clearly communicate goals and expectations to crew members, including but not limited to, allotted work hours, amount of work to be completed, schedule, etc.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of experience in construction or college construction graduate
  • General knowledge of scheduling, cost control, and safety procedures
  • General computer skills (MS Office)
  • Valid Driver's License

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Work is performed mainly in an indoor and outdoor setting with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, and travel from site to site.
  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and field environment (construction site); to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs without assistance and greater than 50 lbs with assistance; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
  • Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
