Requirements

• BA/BS in Education preferred
• Coaching and teaching experience desired
• High school/college athletic participation preferred
• Teaching assignment in the building preferred
• Physical requirements:
  • Hand-eye/mind-eye coordination
  • Physical dexterity
  • Ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit
  • Ability to travel between locations
• Certifications:
  • Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent (must be completed one time)
  • Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or equivalent (must be renewed once every two years)
  • Concussion in Sports - What You Need to Know (must be renewed annually)

Responsibilities

• Assists in the direction and coordination of interscholastic athletics in their school
• Works with the Head Coach to determine athlete participation during practices and games, including playing time at respective levels
• Positively promotes the athletic program within the schools and community
• Operates within the policies of the conference and the SDHSAA
• Maintains a staff relationship with other coaches
• Assists with fundraising activities as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Pay

Season Pay: $2,457.00 (2026-2027 Extra Duty Pay)
