About the role

The Assistant Commissioner, Communications & Branding plays a crucial role in enhancing the Sun Belt Conference's brand and communications strategy. This position is responsible for managing the conference's social media presence, developing and implementing communication plans, and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Sun Belt Conference's social media accounts, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Create and execute comprehensive communication strategies for the conference.
  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns to promote the conference and its member institutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to inform future strategies.
  • Work closely with the Communications Director to develop and maintain the conference's brand identity.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sports communications or marketing.
  • Proven ability to manage social media accounts and develop effective communication strategies.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with experience creating engaging content for various platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with collegiate athletics organizations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tools and platforms.
  • Strong understanding of current trends in sports media and branding.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, or Sprout Social.
  • Understanding of SEO principles and analytics tools like Google Analytics.
