About the role

The Assistant Lacrosse Coach assists the Head Coach in developing and administering a successful NCAA Division II Intercollegiate Lacrosse Program. The program adheres to all University and NCAA rules, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Head Coach in conducting practice and game coaching in compliance with University and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Prepares effective game strategies and uses proven and effective coaching techniques.
  • Designs and coordinates practice sessions for the team.
  • Assists on location before, during, and after competition.
  • Directs aspects of practices and provides appropriate leadership, direction, and supervision.
  • Affirms the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes.
  • Recruits and retains academically and athletically qualified prospective student-athletes through scouting, attending tournaments, and home visits.
  • Maintains positive public relations and represents Bentley in a professional manner.
  • Assists with video/breakdown analysis and scouting of opponents as requested.
  • Trains with student-athletes who may need additional time or individual coaching.
  • Communicates with individuals who contact Bentley about the program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1+ years of coaching experience and/or participation in the sport itself at the varsity level.
  • Valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of innovative and proven coaching strategies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a commitment to developing and maintaining a positive and productive playing environment for all team members.
  • Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student athlete welfare.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules/requirements relevant to the conduct of an intercollegiate program.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work and/or travel a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, or limited overnight assignments.
