Assistant Coach, Women's Basketball/Dorm Supervisor
Description
Duties include assisting with coaching and recruiting, academic monitoring/advising, and supervision of a residence hall. This is a full-time, exempt position (10-month contract) covered by the Public Education Employee Retirement System of Missouri (PEERS) and social security.
Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor's degree, with previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
- A demonstrated proficiency in basketball fundamentals, strategies, and coaching techniques is essential.
- Candidates with experience in a residential life setting or student affairs role are highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for building rapport and fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
- The ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while effectively managing multiple priorities is essential.
Job Responsibilities
- Shall Assist the head coach in all aspects of the basketball program, including planning, organizing, and conducting practices.
- Provide skill development sessions and tactical training to student-athletes.
- Aid in game preparation, strategy development, and in-game coaching.
- Support the recruitment efforts by identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic excellence among players.
- Monitor academic progress of the players; assist with study halls;
- Adhere to policies and regulations as outlined in Policy Handbook;
- Possibly reside in the dormitory on a full-time basis and abide by the rules and regulations as outlined in the Moberly Area Community College Housing Handbook (2 positions – one resides in the residence hall);
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned residence hall, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive living environment for students.
- Assist the Coordinator of Residence Life with residence hall programming and events to enhance the overall student experience and foster a sense of belonging;
- Address student concerns, conduct disciplinary actions when necessary, and enforce college policies and procedures;
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, offering guidance on academic, personal, and social matters.
- Assist with the beginning and end of semester/year activities of the residence halls in cooperation with Student Affairs;
- Communicate with the Director of Security & Residential Life any known dates or times you will be absent from the residence hall on weekends, holidays, and college breaks;
- Report any violations of the Housing Handbook policy to the Director of Security & Residential Life and Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
