About the role
Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach Track & Field/Cross Country & Director of Operations assists in developing a Division I competitive Women's Track & Field/Cross Country program. The primary function of the Assistant Coach is to assist with the cross-country team and assist with the sprints/hurdles in women's. The Assistant Coach will evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes to Temple University whose athletic skills would make the program highly competitive and whose academic abilities make them excellent candidates for a meaningful academic experience and graduation from Temple University.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head Coach by providing leadership and integrity to the program established by the Head Coach
- Create, plan, organize, motivate, communicate, and control aspects related to recruiting, practices, competitions, student-athletes, and related booster clubs
- Conduct themselves in a manner representative of the University, the Department, and the sport, both on and off the field of competition
- Know and comply with NCAA regulatory policies governing their sport, as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least two years of collegiate coaching sprints and hurdles, and some experience coaching distance at the Division I level or as a collegiate athlete
- Preferred: NCAA Division I experience
- Demonstrated experience developing and allocating a budget
- Demonstrated experience fundraising towards the achievement of program goals
Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to assist with budgeting, scheduling, meal planning, coaching, recruiting, scouting, and purchasing and caring for equipment
- Ability to implement policies and guidelines for all Women's Track and Field personnel and student-athletes
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving, strong leadership, and team-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work a highly variable schedule, including nights and weekends
- Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
