About the role
The Assistant Coach, Sailing position is located in Providence, Rhode Island, and is part of the Brown University Athletics and Recreation program. This is a seasonal/intermittent role that assists the Head Coach in all aspects of the Coed & Women’s Sailing Programs.
Responsibilities
- Recruiting, student-athlete development, and video analysis
- Coaching and administrative duties including maintaining logs and compliance information
- Maintaining professional conduct, positive sportsmanship, and acting as a role model
- Working effectively with staff, faculty, and other members of the University
- Supporting the recruitment of top sailors to the Division I non-scholarship program
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Collegiate, professional, high school, or club sports coaching experience, preferred
Qualifications
- Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League Rules
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication & computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students
- Strong sport-specific technical, tactical, and strategic knowledge
- Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, Internet & Email capabilities
- Basic proficiency in video editing software, helpful
- Social media experience, helpful
- Familiarity with ARMS and Teamworks, or similar, preferred
- Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the game, and ability to coach & motivate

Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
