Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruiting
- Aid the Head Coach in maintaining a roster of high-quality and competent athletes
- Maintain official athletic documentation
- Represent the university at appropriate community and sporting events
- Budget and Supplies
- Work with the Head Coach to prepare budgets and maintain financial records
- Prepare requisition forms for equipment, uniforms, and supplies for approval by the Head Coach
- Collaborate with the Marketing Department on branding/logo use for all apparel and gear
- Eligibility - Events
- Provide event coaching coverage as determined by the Head Coach based on current staff needs and athlete requirements
- Support the requirement for all athletes to pass a physical examination before participating in practice or contests
- Inform student-athletes of eligibility, academic, and university standards
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and support their success
- Facilitate team travel by driving a 15-passenger van
- Coordinate with the Food Service Director regarding pre-game meal schedules
- Maintain and update social media and event results as mandated by the Athletic Director and Head Coach
- Team Conduct
- Supervise and assume responsibility for the dress and conduct of the athletes and others traveling with the squad
- Absorb the responsibility for ensuring that team members (athletes, managers) read, understand, and sign the MMU Code of Conduct and all NAIA/conference required papers
- Aid student-athletes with their integration into the academic, spiritual, and social dimensions of the university
- Inform the Head Coach and Athletic Director of outstanding performances, special awards, injuries, or discipline issues
- Professional Standards
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with all university constituents
- Exercise stewardship of university facilities and equipment
- Adhere to the policies and procedures in the MMU Faculty/Staff Handbook and Athletic Policy and Procedure Manual
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with relevant coaching or competitive experience in Track and Field/Cross Country
- Vehicle Operation: Ability to meet university driving standards for 15-passenger vans
- Certification: Current DOT physical and CPR certification
