About the Role

Cedar High School is seeking an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach. The position will remain open until filled and offers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of student‑athletes.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with coaching duties, including conducting practices, instructing student‑athletes in game strategies and techniques, and motivating them to appreciate the sport.
• Assess players’ skills and assign team positions.
• Develop and organize a regular practice schedule to support individual and team development.
• Coach and instruct players, individually or in groups, on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.
• Observe players during competition and practice, reporting observations to the head coach to identify improvement needs.
• Help determine game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
• Maintain standards of pupil behavior and provide proper supervision of athletes at all times.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
• Adhere to state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
• Model sports‑like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
• Care for, maintain, and requisition equipment, supplies, and uniforms according to established procedures.
• Participate in special activities such as banquets, award nights, and assemblies.
• Perform support tasks including distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and related records.
• Model non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
