Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator
About the role
The Assistant Research Coordinator will join our child health research team focused on improving care quality and health outcomes for hospitalized children. The role supports the Social Needs Assistance for Hospitalized Kids (SNAK) Trial, which examines the comparative effectiveness of two hospital-based interventions designed to address families’ social and economic needs. Under the supervision of the Clinical Research Supervisor and study Site Principal Investigators, the incumbent will work closely with the study clinical research coordinators and investigator team.
Responsibilities
- Patient Management (30%): Schedule and track patient visits, tests, procedures, and follow-up according to protocol; provide calendars and schedules to patients; obtain insurance authorization for tests/procedures; code and document toxicities and adverse events in collaboration with team members; report adverse events to appropriate University and outside agencies; obtain, process, and ship specimens.
- Patient Registration (20%): Work with Investigators to verify history and medical information to ensure inclusion/exclusion criteria are met; schedule screening tests and procedures; register and randomize patients on trials and/or studies.
- Data Management (30%): Abstract clinical data from medical records; enter data onto case report forms, study flow sheets, and other forms; submit required data in accordance with accuracy and timeliness requirements; address and resolve data queries; identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues.
- Miscellaneous (20%): Prepare for audits/monitoring visits by sponsors and/or regulatory agencies; monitor study supply inventory and reorder as needed; maintain research charts and study binders; perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; excellent organizational skills; and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Windows.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment; project management and coordination skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines on concurrent projects.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with patients, co-workers, and physicians.
Preferred Qualifications
- Spanish speaking proficiency.
- Demonstrated proficiency with medical terminology.
- Experience working with patients or study subjects.
- Ability to abstract data from medical records and transfer it to data collection forms or directly into databases.
