Climate change is a significant challenge for the places managed by the National Trust. As an Assistant Climate and Environment Adviser, you'll assist colleagues in reducing carbon emissions, using resources more sustainably, and caring for the protected sites.

About the role

You'll join the Trust's internal consultancy team, collaborating with experts in climate, conservation, curation, fundraising, and project management to implement sustainable practices and address environmental issues.

What It's Like To Work Here

Your contractual workplace will be the National Trust office in either York or Newcastle. Hybrid working allows for a mix of office and remote work, with site visits and meetings at other Trust properties.

What You'll Be Doing

• Support National Trust teams in Yorkshire and the North East to tackle climate change and care for protected sites
• Work with experienced Climate and Environment Advisers
• Contribute to projects involving data analysis, advice provision, site visits, and decision-making on environmental practices
• Maintain accurate environmental records, share research, and support colleagues in developing their knowledge and confidence
• Collaborate with colleagues from various departments and external partners to translate data and evidence into actionable steps
• Grow your knowledge of Trust's environmental systems, standards, and practices

• A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust
• An analytical thinker who uses research and data to identify trends and opportunities
• An organised individual with excellent attention to detail and experience managing records
• An understanding of environmental or sustainability practices, with knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice
• A collaborative worker who shares knowledge and supports colleagues in improving their skills
