Job Summary
Assists the Vice Provost of Environmental Resilience and the Biscayne Bay Campus by managing the day-to-day activities and mission functions of the strategic focus area of environment and environmental resilience, including operations, finance, or human resources management. Assists in developing, implementing and coordinating initiatives for research, teaching, and engagement programs as well as grant proposals and on-campus projects.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Vice Provost of Environmental Resilience and the Biscayne Bay Campus and University leadership in the strategic focus area of environment and environmental resilience with developing, implementing and coordinating initiatives for research, teaching, and engagement programs as well as grant proposals and on-campus projects.
- Works closely with internal and external partners and collaborators and maintaining exceptional records of progress and correspondence.
- Contributes to the management strategy and participates in planning
- Gathers data on faculty, research, students, staff, and comparables at other institutions. Prepares reports and proposals involving analysis and compilation of data. Sets priorities and establishes guidelines for report generation to meet special departmental objectives.
- Works closely with leadership of units across the university focused on environmental and resilience work including, deans, department chairs, institute and center directors to keep abreast of important events, findings and issues.
- Assists with initiatives and special events including coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communications and successful execution of events.
- Represents the vice provost and environment and resilience programs - at internal and external events
- Serves as the point-of-contact for select external partners and stakeholders and handles routine requests as appropriate.
- Provides advice to PIs and other program staff on implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
- Coordinates, supports, and organizes internal and extramural outreach activities between participants, scientists and stakeholders, as needed. Provides content to the communications team for promotion and publicity.
- Contributes to management strategy and participates in strategic planning, staffing decisions, policy development, and other key areas.
- Affirms compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and standards
- Recommends and implements policies, procedures and practices to improve efficiency.
- Offers direction on human resource functions and ensures timely processing of documentation required for new hires, staffing, payroll, and orientation of new employees.
- Participates in the training for administrative staff.
- Supervises and appraises employee performance and recommends improvement plans for deficiencies.
- Represents, as needed, the unit on committees, task forces, and/or initiatives related to finance, human resources, and other administrative issues.
- Works with facilities to coordinate research/education initiatives and sensor platform installations and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, education or related field and four (4) years of related work experience
- Master's degree in business, education or related field and two (2) years of related work experience
Desired Qualifications
- PhD in a related field
- Familiarity with AI tools
