About This Position

The City of Phoenix Prosecutor's Office seeks a dynamic prosecutor to join a team of dedicated professionals who make a difference in our city. The position offers immediate courtroom experience, support for victims, and opportunities for growth and development.

Contributions

  • Negotiate plea agreements to improve the lives of the parties involved and our community.
  • Participate in arraignments and pretrial-disposition conferences.
  • Conduct bench and jury trials, participate in motion hearings and oral arguments, and cover daily court appearances.
  • Discuss, research, and present analysis of legal issues.
  • Review and/or initiate charges.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered, including trial practice/clinical programs, moot court experience, law school prosecution internships, and clerkships.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of law.
  • Experience in legal research and the independent handling of trial work up to the jury trials, contested case or appeal level.
  • Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trial experience is not a prerequisite, but an aptitude for trial advocacy and familiarity with trial procedure is viewed favorably.
  • Trial-practice classes, moot-court experience, and law-school prosecution-internship experience is viewed favorably.
  • Prior prosecution experience is valued.
  • Experience in legal research is highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits

Pay Range: $97,364.80 to $137,009.60 annually
Hiring Range: $97,364.80 to $124,259.20 annually
