About the role

The Assistant Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) is a key leadership role within the finance department of St. David's North Austin Medical Center. This position is incentive eligible and plays a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and explore means of reducing hospital operating costs and increasing revenues based on market trends, financial reports, and operating procedures.
  • Direct the preparation of internal financial reports and ensure they accurately reflect the financial position of the hospital.
  • Direct the timely submission of all financial data associated with reports required by government and other regulated agencies, including payroll tax reports, public disclosure reports, and third-party payor cost reports.
  • Identify and report undesirable trends and potential business opportunities, making recommendations for action.
  • Assist the CEO in developing long- and short-range hospital operations plans, including service demand analyses, resources availability analyses, productivity, and cost-benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions.
  • Develop and administer long and short-range operational and capital budgets that are supported by the hospital's long and short-range plans and objectives.
  • Administer general accounting, patient business services, including third-party reimbursement, financial, and statistical reporting functions of the hospital in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures.
  • Provide informal direction in data processing, distributed systems, material management, and medical record functions.
  • Maintain accuracy of a charge master and review contracts, purchase agreements, and other financial arrangements to ensure compatibility with business goals and expectations about profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in a Hospital Controller, Asst. CFO, or VP of Finance role preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
