Assistant Buyer Part-Time

About the role

Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking an Assistant Buyer PART-TIME to partner with our experienced purchasing team in this environmentally focused industry.

Job duties

• Aid in product selection and sourcing.
• Support the management of purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining purchase records.
• Monitor inventory levels and suggest reorderings to avoid stockouts.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and address any product discrepancies or issues.
• Maintain and update product catalogs, pricing, and related documentation.
• Prepare reports on purchasing activities, inventory, and sales trends.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.

Qualifications

• Must be able to commit to working at least 20 hours per week from Lenexa, KS year-round.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent. Some college preferred.
• Previous experience in a purchasing or office administrative position preferred, but not required.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical requirements

• Required to sit, stand, and walk.
• Use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
• Reach with hands and arms.
• Required to talk and hear consistently.
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or drag up to twenty-five (25) pounds if necessary.
• Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.
