About the Role
Assists the Head Coach with all aspects of a sports program, including recruiting athletes, mentoring athletes, and fostering athletic, emotional, and academic growth of student-athletes. Oversees sports equipment, practice plans and schedules, skill development, and designs coaching strategies. Handles public and media relations, coordinates team travel and schedule, and adheres to all rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Carries out coaching assignments during daily workouts, practices, and scheduled events.
- Enforces team rules and maintains statistics.
- Monitors assigned student-athletes' performance and employs specific coaching modalities to meet needs.
- Recruits student-athletes; assists with departmental recruiting activities and carries out scouting assignments.
- Consults with trainers and team physicians to monitor the well-being of student-athletes.
- Assists in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.
- Adheres to policies established by the NCAA, conference, and the University.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Combination of education and relevant experience may substitute for education and/or experience requirements.
- Collegiate athletics experience strongly preferred.
- An equivalent combination of work and high-level playing experience may be substituted at the discretion of the University.
Physical Effort
- Instructing and demonstrating physical skills while coaching.
- Extensive travel via car, air, and bus.
- Must stand for long periods during games and practices.
- May participate in drills or practices.
- May need to lift or transport equipment.
