About the role
Assist with direction of all school band performances, including marching band, concert band, jazz band, soloists, and small ensembles. Assist with establishing performance requirements, enforcing academic requirements, and verifying each student’s eligibility to participate in band. Assist in providing opportunities for band participation in curricular and extracurricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, TMEA, and UIL activities. Assist with arrangements for transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
Responsibilities
- Comply with federal and state laws, State and Local Board of Education policy, and UIL rules governing band participation.
- Absorb and evaluate evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs.
- Aid in planning and use of appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Aid in development and implementation of plans for improvement and growth of band program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Requirements
- Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.
- A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.

Skills
- Advanced typing skills of 60 wpm.

Minimum Salary: $67,500 (non-certified) / $68,000 (certified)
