Assistant Bakery Manager

About the role

As an Assistant Bakery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will help deliver an extraordinary customer service experience in a fast-paced, friendly environment. You’ll manage and lead Bakery Clerks, assist the Bakery Manager in daily operations, and contribute to the department’s productivity and profit.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Bakery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
• Handle ordering and inventory controls, and ensure product quality
• Supervise the Bakery team and execute merchandise rotation and display building
• Monitor incoming cases for damaged items
• Ensure excellent customer service and monitor the quality of Bakery products
• Unload and sort store deliveries, operate and maintain bakery equipment
• Enforce company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, ensuring team members follow procedures
• Perform general housekeeping, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas (tables, floors, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
• Operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
• Accurately weigh and label products using scales and weight measures
• Answer phones and take special orders

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Minimum of two years’ retail grocery experience and two years’ supervisory experience
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude and strong customer interaction skills
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
• Ability to vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs. from 7” to 64” for up to 10 hours
• Ability to vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs. from 5” to 36” for distances up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
• Adherence to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
• Valid Food Handlers permit
