Assistant Attorney General - Statewide Grand Jury - Carbondale
Summary Of Duties And Responsibilities
The Statewide Grand Jury Bureau prosecutes multi-county cases involving drugs, guns, or computers, working regularly with state and federal counterparts on complex, often large-scale, organized criminal activity. The candidate must be capable of handling all aspects of moderately complex drug felony prosecutions, from investigation and grand jury presentation to trial and post-trial motions. Travel is frequent due to the Bureau’s jurisdiction covering all 102 Illinois counties.
- Assist with criminal trials or civil detention hearings (SVP cases)
- Prosecute civil drug asset forfeitures or nuisance abatements
- Prepare periodic activity reports
Qualifications
- Licensed by the State of Illinois at the time of application
- At least 2 years of prosecution experience
- Felony trial experience, especially in the area of drug crimes, preferred
- Experience dealing with expert testimony preferred

Salary: Salaries are commensurate with number of years of practice as a licensed attorney and range from $84,480 to $107,550.
