Assistant Attorney General, Elections Section
Job Duties
The attorney in this position will serve as the agency counsel to the Virginia State Board of Elections and the Virginia Department of Elections, providing both legal advice and litigation services with respect to its election programs and operations; review of election-related legislation, regulations and policies; respond to subpoena and FOIA requests; review legal issues related to inquiries from constituents and the General Assembly; draft official opinions for the Attorney General.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team
- A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, including first and second chair trial work in both state and federal courts
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Technical drafting skills
- The ability to analyze and manage complex cases
- Admission, or ability to waive in, to the Virginia State Bar
