About the Role
Represent the Commonwealth in criminal appeals in the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Virginia. Handle habeas corpus and other post-trial litigation at all judicial levels in both state and federal courts. Some overnight travel is required. Provide advice and assistance on other matters related to criminal law and procedure, including legislative issues before the Virginia General Assembly.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited law school
- Admitted to the Virginia State Bar or eligible for admission
- At least one year of experience as a licensed attorney
- One to three years of judicial law clerk, trial, or appellate experience is highly desirable
Qualifications
- Good academic record
- Demonstrated excellent legal writing, research, and oral communication skills
- Superior analytical ability, objectivity, and maturity of judgment
