Assistant Athletics Trainer
About the role
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting with the organization, management, and development of the University’s intercollegiate sports medicine program. Essential Functions include providing emergency care, injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of all varsity athletic injuries under the direct supervision and guidelines of the athletic team physician. Other duties include assisting with the day-to-day operations of the training room, assisting with administrative responsibilities such as budgeting, ordering, and inventory control, overseeing primary care coverage for Varsity teams, assisting with the development and implementation of policies and procedures, assisting with treatments of all varsity student-athletes, coordinating physical examinations, medical insurance, and other medical administrative tasks, compiling relevant statistical information, overseeing special events and summer camp training responsibilities, providing other team and training room coverage as assigned, maintaining a high degree of professionalism, and managing unexpected interruptions.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency care, injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of all varsity athletic injuries under the direct supervision and guidelines of the athletic team physician.
- Aid in the day-to-day operations of the training room.
- Aid in the administrative responsibilities of budgeting, ordering, and inventory control.
- Oversee the primary care coverage for Varsity teams as designated by the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Aid in the development and implementation of policies and procedures as related to the Sports Medicine Department.
- Assist with the treatments of all varsity student-athletes when necessary.
- Aid in the coordination of all physical examinations, medical insurance, and other medical administrative tasks.
- Compile relevant statistical information for post injury strength testing and injury rates.
- Oversee special events and summer camp training responsibilities as designated by the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Provide other team and training room coverage as assigned.
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism which fosters growth of the department and a high perception of the division.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine.
- Experience in the field of athletic training.
- NATABOC Certified, CPR/AED certification, Colorado AT licensure eligible.
Qualifications
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable and situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
- Excellent organizational skills required.
- Knowledge specific to the field of athletic training.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work with the public with tact and judgment.
- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
- Work schedule varies depending on Varsity sports seasons. Some weekends, evenings, early mornings, and travel may be required.
Pay
$60,000 - $62,000
