Assistant Athletic Trainer (Men's Soccer - M/W Swim)
About the role
The Sports Medicine Department at Mount St. Mary’s University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to support the men’s soccer and swimming teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality, comprehensive care for student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care, and treatment of injuries and illnesses and assist with injury rehabilitation.
- Serve as the staff athletic trainer for the men’s soccer and swimming teams; with the potential of practice and game coverage of other teams as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.
- Travel with assigned teams.
- Compile and maintain injury and treatment documentation for the Sports Medicine Department including injury tracking and reporting.
- Assist with the supervision of the electronic medical records.
- Assist with establishing, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring of athletic training services to ALL student-athletes.
- Communicate with coaches and athletic department staff on a variety of issues, including but not limited to the Sports Medicine Department policies and procedures, student-athlete status, activity restrictions, and treatment/rehabilitation, appointment compliance and progress.
- Assist the staff in the upkeep of facilities, emergency equipment and modalities.
- Collaborate with other departments – Academic Services, Mental Health, Nutrition, Strength and Conditioning, and the Equipment Room are key in providing comprehensive healthcare and a positive experience for the student-athlete.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a health-related field is preferred (Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, etc.).
- Board of Certification Athletic Trainer (new grads welcome to apply; experience preferred).
- Current Maryland State Athletic Training Licensure or eligible for.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to work nights and weekends, travel involved.
- CPR and First AID certified.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Training in bloodborne pathogens.
- Soft Tissue Mobilization certification (preferred).
Qualifications
This role requires a strong commitment to excellence in sports medicine and a passion for working with student-athletes. Previous experience in a collegiate setting is preferred but not required.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with electronic medical records systems.

Pay
$50,000-$55,000/year (Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.)
