Job Summary

Bucknell University is looking for certified Athletic Trainers to join our Department of Athletics and Recreation. As a member of the NCAA Division I (FCS in Football) and the Patriot League for 23 of 27 varsity sports. Under general supervision, the Assistant Athletic Trainer provides injury and illness prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and health care management for student-athletes in the intercollegiate athletics program. The position administers medical policies and insurance procedures, conducts physical examinations, follows risk management protocols, and communicates with student-athletes, coaches, parents, health care providers, and campus stakeholders.

Job Duties

  • Reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine
  • Work setting/schedule: Primarily on-campus, Must be able to travel with the team for competitions as necessary, Requires night and weekend availability
  • Provides healthcare for assigned athletic teams by attending practices and competitions, including team travel, and delivering injury and illness prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, immediate care, and therapeutic treatment for student-athletes.
  • Oversees rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries, assessing recovery and coordinating physician referrals as needed to support safe return to sport.
  • Provides administrative support for student-athlete medical care, including insurance, medical records, follow-up care, supply ordering/stocking, scheduling, communications, and health and safety recommendations.

Required What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in athletic training or a related field
  • BOC Certified for Athletic Trainers
  • Must possess a State of Pennsylvania License or be State of Pennsylvania License eligible
  • Preferred, but not required: Master’s Degree, Completed the national certification exam & are eligible for state licensure, 1-2 years collegiate athletics experience preferred, Athletic training experience in an NCAA Division I program is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day

Salary Range

$52,100.00 - $65,100.00
