About the role
The Assistant position at Snoqualmie Valley Health is a critical role within the lab department, supporting the quality and integrity of patient test results. This role requires a strong focus on patient care, innovation, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and process capillary and venous blood samples from patients
- Register patients, schedule appointments, process orders, and communicate with providers and other departments using IT systems
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing and perform waived patient testing
- Correct problems associated with orders and samples before forwarding to technical staff
- Perform clerical duties such as scanning, faxing, and filing
- Train new staff and student externs
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
- Restock supplies and communicate needs to laboratory management
- Collaborate with other departments to provide quality service
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a phlebotomy program through a post-secondary school or college accredited by a regional or national accrediting organization recognized by the US Department of Education
- Current WA State Medical-Assistant/Phlebotomist certificate, or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days with proof of application
- Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary blood collection using sterile technique
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a diverse patient group including infants, children, and adults
- Knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of PPE
- Ability to complete various clerical duties
- Ability to work with blood, body fluids, and tissue samples
