About the role

The Assistant position at Snoqualmie Valley Health is a critical role within the lab department, supporting the quality and integrity of patient test results. This role requires a strong focus on patient care, innovation, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and process capillary and venous blood samples from patients
  • Register patients, schedule appointments, process orders, and communicate with providers and other departments using IT systems
  • Prepare samples for laboratory testing and perform waived patient testing
  • Correct problems associated with orders and samples before forwarding to technical staff
  • Perform clerical duties such as scanning, faxing, and filing
  • Train new staff and student externs
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
  • Restock supplies and communicate needs to laboratory management
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide quality service

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a phlebotomy program through a post-secondary school or college accredited by a regional or national accrediting organization recognized by the US Department of Education
  • Current WA State Medical-Assistant/Phlebotomist certificate, or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days with proof of application
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary blood collection using sterile technique
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse patient group including infants, children, and adults
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of PPE
  • Ability to complete various clerical duties
  • Ability to work with blood, body fluids, and tissue samples
