About the role
This is a tenure-track, 12-month faculty position serving as the TSU Extension veterinarian and establishing a state-wide Extension and outreach program.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a state-wide Extension and outreach program for training Extension agents.
- Create and provide Extension curricula for Extension agents.
- Train livestock producers in Tennessee on livestock production and disease management.
- Conduct applied research with externally funded grants.
- Publish scholarly papers in peer-reviewed journals.
- Teach one or two 3-credit hour courses per year, depending on departmental needs or assignments.
- Collaborate with other faculty members, state veterinarians, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation, and other livestock associations in Tennessee to fulfill responsibilities.
Requirements
- DVM with certification to practice Veterinary Medicine in the USA.
- DVM with Ph. D preferred.
- Experience in teaching, research, and/or Extension preferred.
- Ability to teach, conduct research, and publish in relevant, scholarly professional journals.
- Ability to write and secure external grants.
- Understanding and ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report on statewide Extension and outreach programs.
Qualifications
- PhD in Veterinary Medicine preferred.
- Experience in veterinary medicine and extension.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
