Assistant/Associate Professor Veterinary Medicine, Extension Veterinarian

About the role

This is a tenure-track, 12-month faculty position serving as the TSU Extension veterinarian and establishing a state-wide Extension and outreach program.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a state-wide Extension and outreach program for training Extension agents.
• Create and provide Extension curricula for Extension agents.
• Train livestock producers in Tennessee on livestock production and disease management.
• Conduct applied research with externally funded grants.
• Publish scholarly papers in peer-reviewed journals.
• Teach one or two 3-credit hour courses per year, depending on departmental needs or assignments.
• Collaborate with other faculty members, state veterinarians, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation, and other livestock associations in Tennessee to fulfill responsibilities.

Requirements

• DVM with certification to practice Veterinary Medicine in the USA.
• DVM with Ph. D preferred.
• Experience in teaching, research, and/or Extension preferred.
• Ability to teach, conduct research, and publish in relevant, scholarly professional journals.
• Ability to write and secure external grants.
• Understanding and ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report on statewide Extension and outreach programs.

Qualifications

• PhD in Veterinary Medicine preferred.
• Experience in veterinary medicine and extension.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
