About the role

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in the School of Nursing, School of Public Health, and College of Liberal Arts/Department of Psychology. This position is part of an Addictions Interdisciplinary Research Development Area (iRDA).

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate nursing courses consistent with area of expertise
  • Collaborate with other faculty in course development
  • Use teaching resources, such as WebCampus/Canvas to foster learning
  • Provide student supervision
  • Participate in school, university, professional, and community service activities
  • Engage in research leading to publications in quality, refereed journals
  • Seek internal and external grant funds

Requirements

The individual must hold a doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The individual must also hold or be qualified to hold a Nevada RN license and if selected, applicant is subject to a one-time background check. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in nursing or related field
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate nursing courses
  • Research expertise and experience in substance use, gambling, and other addictive behavior disorders
  • Track record of scientific publications and research dissemination
  • Demonstrated track record in securing external grant awards from agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Science Foundation, and other funding agencies

Skills

Strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to mentor students, and proficiency in teaching resources like WebCampus/Canvas.
