Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing

Brief Description

The Faculty is responsible for teaching and related responsibilities in the School of Nursing and to assist with the direction, coordination, and overall management of the program.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Master’s degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education, or administration
• Current active California RN license
• Current CPR certificate
• Minimum of at least one year experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing
• Minimum of one year’s continuous full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area within the last five years
• Clinical Nursing experience preferred
• Demonstrated effective classroom skills
• Program administration, supervision or other administrative experience a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills required

Essential Functions

• Teach the equivalent of twenty-four credit hours per year on a schedule to be determined by the Program Director in consultation with the faculty
• Participate in program and department committees as assigned
• Advise students as assigned
• Demonstrate effective communication skills to constituent groups
• Aid in the recruitment of adjunct faculty
• Aid in the selection of required texts and reading materials, evaluation and distribution of syllabi
• Aid in the organization and conduct of departmental, adjunct faculty and/or site supervisor meetings
• Aid in the development of curriculum and online courses
• Aid in the program and department review and evaluation activities
• Aid the Program Director with the overall management of the program
• Participate in strategic planning and budgetary activities of the program and department
