Job Description

The department of Human Sciences at Tennessee State University, College of Agriculture is seeking a tenure track, full time faculty with the rank of Assistant or Associate professor of food and nutrition security and resource management. Successful candidate will have evidence of effective teaching, emerging or established publications record appropriate for rank. This faculty member will be expected to teach, conduct research to produce scholarly peer reviewed publications, secure external grants to conduct research and establish a successful Extension and outreach program. Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative evidence-based programs and applied research. Train, collaborate with, and support the team of Extension Agents to implement, evaluate, and report impacts of the research-based Extension educational programs that they provide to individuals and families in communities throughout Tennessee. Identify, develop, and deliver educational tools (e.g., presentations, publications, videos, and website information), which are grounded in scientific research, to improve the nutrition security, healthy eating and family food budgets. Design and undertake evidence-based Extension and applied research projects that engage and involve individuals, families, groups, students, and communities to improve their quality of life. Obtain extramurally funding for Extension and applied research program. Disseminate consumer sciences leadership, education and communication programming and research scholarship through conference presentations, journal publications and professional service. Participate in and assist Extension Agents develop annual plans of work. Collaborate with Human Sciences faculty on interdisciplinary community programming and research. Engage Human Sciences students in the development and delivery of educational tools and programs. Contribute to departmental, college, Extension, and professional service.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates will hold a doctoral degree in Nutritional Sciences, Public Health, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a closely related field, with a strong emphasis on precision nutrition and its application in community-based settings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to design, implement, and evaluate precision nutrition interventions at both individual and population levels to improve dietary behaviors and health outcomes. A Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential is preferred. Experience teaching food service management courses is also desirable.
