Assistant /Associate Professor Food & Nutritional Sciences

Position Overview

The primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in food and nutritional sciences; developing a research program in food and nutrition and securing external grants; advising graduate and undergraduate students, participating in curriculum development; collaborating with faculty on research and creative scholarship activities; serving on departmental, college and university committees and participating in other academic functions. This is a 9-month tenure track position.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must hold a Doctorate in Food Science or Nutritional Science or a closely related field with a focus on food biochemistry.
  • Teaching experience with strong technology skills in classrooms, a record of scholarly achievement, and grant writing experience are essential.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will bring interdisciplinary expertise that bridges food science and nutrition and have experience teaching graduate and undergraduate courses (such as food microbiology and bio-technology, food safety and sanitation, risk assessment, food protection and defense).

Position Information

This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. N.C. A&T employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
