Assistant / Associate Professor of Surgery - Vascular Surgery

Baylor College of Medicine and the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery are committed to excellence in surgical care, education, and research. Situated in the world's largest medical center, the Department practices at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC), Texas Children’s Hospital, Ben Taub General Hospital, and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC). The department trains vascular surgeons through a Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency and Vascular Surgery Independent Fellowship and maintains robust research programs in clinical, translational, and basic sciences.

About the Role

The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an exceptional full-time vascular surgeon to join the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at the rank of Associate Professor. The division has a robust clinical program with twelve full-time faculty surgeons working across the Texas Medical Center and affiliated institutions.

Ideal candidates will have completed a fellowship or residency in Vascular Surgery, possess at least 5 years of practice experience, and be American Board of Vascular Surgery board certified. The candidate must qualify for medical licensure in Texas. Tenure status is dependent upon qualifications.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence, research, innovation, teaching, and collaborative practices. They must have an established record of robust clinical experience and outcomes in both open and endovascular surgery, as well as a dedication to teaching vascular surgery residents and advanced fellows.

Responsibilities

• Develop and participate in department and division clinical, research, and educational programs.
• Support the implementation of evidence-based, state-of-the-art protocols and quality metrics for the service at BCM.
• Provide call coverage for CHI St. Luke’s Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, and other affiliated hospitals as needed.
• Actively participate in college, department, hospital, and clinical professional meetings.
• Grow the vascular surgery division through participation in clinical, research, and education efforts.

Requirements

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
• Texas Medical Board certification or eligibility.
• Completion of a certified vascular surgery residency program.
• Completion of a certified vascular surgery fellowship program.
• American Board of Vascular Surgery board certification.
• At least 5 years of experience in practice.
• Qualification for medical licensure in Texas.
