Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice & Clinical Simulation Learning Specialist

About the role
This is a full-time 12-month contract faculty position within the School of Nursing's pre-licensure programs. The Simulation Center role collaborates with students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality simulation-based learning that supports the School of Nursing's mission and outcomes. The position reports to the Assistant Director for Simulation and is based in Boston.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of simulation experiences in accordance with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Teach simulations as the primary responsibility, fulfilling a full teaching assignment (7 sections/28 WLUs) through simulation instruction (no course releases or administrative time).
- Engage in all aspects of learning experiences in the simulation center to ensure course and program objectives are achieved.
- Collaborate with didactic faculty and the simulation center team to ensure congruency between simulation activities and program outcomes.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement in teaching skills, pedagogy, and equity, inclusion, and belonging in the learning environment.
- Maintain knowledge of simulator technologies, including anatomic models, task trainers, and high-fidelity mannequins.
- Facilitate and advocate for the incorporation of simulation throughout the campus and curricula.
- Collaborate with the simulation team to design and facilitate immersive learning experiences.
- Contribute to the revision and creation of simulation cases.
- Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes using formative and summative methods.
- Provide demonstrations for prospective students and visitors, and participate in orientation sessions.
- Support students through office hours and other means to ensure a positive educational experience.
- Advise pre-licensure students.
- Participate in curriculum development, program meetings, university committees, and faculty governance.
- Maintain currency in the discipline through professional development, certifications, and licensure.
- Engage in the broader academic and professional community in accordance with disciplinary standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Earned graduate degree in nursing required; Doctorate degree in nursing (PhD, DNP, EdD) preferred.
- Assistant Professor of Practice rank requires at least 5 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Associate Professor of Practice rank requires at least 10 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Current Registered Nurse License in Massachusetts (required as a condition of employment).
- Consent to Massachusetts CORI background check.
- Maintain Basic Life Support certification by the American Heart Association.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification preferred.
- NLN Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification preferred.
- Specialty-based certification (e.g., CCRN, CMC, RNC-OB, CMSRN, ONCC) preferred.
- Recent nursing clinical/simulation teaching experience preferred.

Pay
Salary range: $85,196–$116,716. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills, equity, and external market benchmarks.
