ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR of OPHTHALMOLOGY / UMKC School of Medicine / Vision Research Center
Job Description
The Vision Research Center of the School of Medicine seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor with research experience and potential in Ocular Regenerative Medicine. The successful candidate will provide evidence and/or aptitude for externally funded projects focused primarily on regeneration in the field of ocular neuroscience, regenerative genetic therapy science, development and transplantation of bio-artificial ocular tissue, or other retinal cell regenerative medical science.
Qualifications
- MD/PhD or PhD (or other doctoral degree) in a field of science relative to research in ocular regenerative medicine
- At least 2 years of experience working in a research group focused on eye / vision research
- Extensive experience in lab-based experimentation in ocular regenerative medical science, cell-based therapy development or cyto-therapy
- Demonstrated success or potential for success in obtaining external funding as Principal Investigator or co-Investigator.
- Prior experience or demonstrated ability to teach medical or graduate students.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience and evidence of success in externally funded research. This is a 12-month, benefit-eligible, full-time (1.0) tenure-track faculty appointment eligible for promotion and tenure.
