About the Role

The University of Connecticut School of Business invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Business Law. Although we will consider candidates with a range of relevant curricular and scholarly expertise in the field of law, we are specifically seeking candidates with research and teaching interests in business law. We are especially interested in receiving applications from candidates who will add to the diversity of our faculty and community.

Founded in 1881, UConn is a Land Grant and Sea Grant institution and member of the Space Grant Consortium. It is the state’s flagship institution of higher education and includes a main campus in Storrs, CT, four regional campuses, and 13 Schools and Colleges, including a Law School in Hartford, and Medical and Dental Schools at the UConn Health campus in Farmington. The University has approximately 10,000 faculty and staff and 32,000 students. UConn is a Carnegie Foundation R1 (highest research activity) institution, among the top 25 public universities in the nation.

Responsibilities

• Teaching business law courses at the undergraduate, graduate, or executive education level.
• Conducting and publishing excellent scholarship in the field of business law.
• Contributing to service within the university, discipline, or profession, including leadership in professional organizations, editorial activities, or curriculum development.
• Teaching at the Storrs or Stamford campus, with potential for online or regional campus instruction as part of regular workload.

Requirements

• Earned JD degree by the time of appointment from an accredited U.S. law school or equivalent U.S. or foreign terminal degree.
• Evidence that reflects the potential for effective teaching of business law and/or significant experience in the practice of law in areas related to business.
• Oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants for the rank of associate professor should possess an excellent record of research, teaching performance, or service to the university or discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated record of published excellent scholarship in the field of business law.
• A research agenda that complements departmental needs.
• A record of effective teaching experience at the higher or executive education level.
• For associate professor rank: evidence of service to the university, the field, or the profession through leadership in professional organizations, editorial activities, or successful involvement in undergraduate or graduate curriculum development.
