Assistant/Associate Professor, Hospice & Palliative Medicine - Internal Medicine

About the role

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) non-tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in the Joan and Stanford Alexander Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine. The selected candidate will contribute to the division’s mission to improve the lives of older adults, individuals with serious illness, and the people who care for them. Our work is grounded in compassionate, relationship-based care and driven by a belief that aging and serious illness deserve thoughtful, coordinated, and human-centered approaches across every setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical palliative care at Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center.
• Deliver direct patient care to a patient population aged 16 and over for trauma and 18 and over for medicine.
• Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings as part of routine clinical care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care teams to support patient- and family-centered decision-making.
• Contribute to divisional and departmental service activities related to clinical operations.

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O.
• Texas Medical License.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Hospice & Palliative Medicine.
