About the role
The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Agronomy Department, focusing on forage management. This is a 60% research and 40% teaching position available in Gainesville, Florida.
Responsibilities
- Develop a strong applied and/or basic research and education program focused on forage-livestock production systems and their interaction with the environment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, especially the Florida Cattlemen's Association, to align research and education programs with industry priorities.
- Seek external funding to support the research program and publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals.
- Conduct research in collaboration with colleagues on the UF/IFAS Forage Team and other UF faculty.
- Teach three forage-specific courses, including one at the undergraduate and two at the graduate level.
- Participate in graduate education by chairing and serving on graduate committees, supervising thesis and dissertation research, and publishing results with graduate students.
Requirements
- A doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Agronomy or a closely related discipline is required.
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, and procurement of extramural funding.
- A commitment to the mission of the Land-Grant system and UF core values.
- Preferred postdoctoral experience in the discipline.
